What is the Demo Industrial Arena? Well… DIA is a project I made for AI and other code testing. Its complex and large enough to provide efficient feedback for high-end level design and assessment for First person, Third person or any other style of game. DIA also contains many of the essential obstacles and cover points for action style game play.
The Project required 4 weeks from start to finish. Because of the short development period it doesn’t contain the finer details that would normally be present in a final level version.
For those Unity developers who are interested, the nitty-gritty details are below:
3D modeling program used: modo from Luxology www.luxology.com
Game Engine used: Unity - Unity3d.com
Textures from CGTextures – www.cgtextures.com
Texture assembly and modification: Adobe Photoshop CS3
Skybox: Ozone 4 for Lightwave 3D
Garage Band was used for the nifty little sound track, which I spent a whopping 10 min on.
Triangles: 336,404
Vertices: 502,444
123 meshes. Average of 4,084 vertices and 2,734 triangles per mesh.
Average screen draw calls 600-700, Tris: 350k, Verts: 700k
Max screen draw calls: 1,100; Tris: 500k; Verts: 1.7M (this number includes the terrain, too)
Used textures: 222 – 70.4 MB
Number of in-engine lights used: 0
Also: Structures only have a total of 515 drawcalls. Average when walking around is between 120 - 250 drawcalls.
